What Is the Germany Opportunity Card?
The Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card) is a residence permit under Germany's Skilled Immigration Act that enables qualified non-EU nationals to enter Germany to look for skilled employment while taking up part-time trial or secondary employment of up to 20 hours per week.
Two Pathways to Qualify
- Direct Qualification Route: Applicants holding a foreign university degree or vocational qualification that is already fully recognized in Germany (such as an H+ institution and corresponding degree in the Anabin database).
- Points-Based Route: Applicants with a foreign degree or 2+ year vocational training plus basic German (A1) or English (B2) proficiency who achieve at least 6 points across professional experience, age, language skills, and shortage occupation criteria.
